Live Cricket Scoring
Score a cricket match ball by ball from its Match Centre or the Control App, on a laptop or a phone, and your graphics update on air as each ball is entered. No spreadsheet or data feed is needed: CloudMonet works out the scorecard and sends it to the graphic.
It works with any graphic whose objects are bound to the cricket fields, such as the Cricket Scorebug template.
Set up a match
Start a new match
Open Matches in the workspace sidebar and click New match. Or start from a scorebug:
- Fresh from a template: the Control App shows Score this graphic live. Click Set up a new match.
- In the editor: open Data in the left sidebar and click Score a new cricket match live.
Either way, the scorebug is linked to the new match.
Match details
Give the match a title, and optionally a venue and date. Pick the format: T20, 30 overs, 50 overs, or type any number of overs. Each bowler can bowl a fifth of the overs.
The two teams
For each team, start from a saved squad or create a new team:
- Team name and a 2–4 letter short code (suggested from the name). The short code and colour are what the scorebug shows.
- Add players by pasting a list: one name per line, or separated by commas. Numbering like
1.is ignored. - Tap players to pick exactly 11. The order you pick them in is the batting order. Extra players, like a 12th man, stay in the squad unpicked.
Leave Save as a squad for next time on to reuse the team next week. Saved squads keep each player's identity across matches.
The toss
Choose who won the toss and whether they chose to bat or bowl. A preview shows what the scorebug will say before the first ball.
Click Create match. If you started from Matches, its Match Centre opens next. If you started from the editor, your graphic's fields link to the match automatically; Save the design to keep those links.
The Match Centre
Each match has a Match Centre, where you run the whole match from one screen. Open it from Matches, or from Open Match Centre under the Live scoring card in the Control App.
- Left: the Live scoring card.
- Middle: Preview shows the selected graphic exactly as its output does. Scorecard is the full batting and bowling card for both innings, with strike rates, economy and fall of wickets. Ball by ball lists every over, newest first.
- Right: the match's graphics.
Graphics in a match
Click Add graphic, then pick one of Your projects, or a Template (a copy is made in your projects). A graphic already in another match shows a pill saying where, like Tri-Nation Tournament → IND v ENG; use In use to see them all. You can also add a graphic from its side: Add to a match in the editor's Data tab, or on the Score this graphic live card in the Control App. Its fields bind to the match's live score straight away, so it updates with every ball.
Each graphic has its own output. Choose Copy OBS output URL from its ••• menu, and add it to OBS (or vMix) as its own browser source. Then use Take on air and Take off air on each graphic. A graphic without IN and OUT animations shows whenever its output is open, so it has no on-air button.
The same ••• menu opens the graphic in the Control App or the editor, and removes it from the match. Removing a graphic keeps the graphic itself; it just stops getting this match's score.
A graphic belongs to one match at a time. To use the same design in another match, duplicate it first.
Score from the Control App
Open the Control App. A Live scoring card sits at the top of the panel, next to the preview, so you can score and take the scorebug on and off air from one screen. It works the same on a phone.
Handing scoring to someone else
If someone else is scoring, for example a volunteer at the boundary while you run the stream, give them the scoring-only link. By default it opens just the Live scoring card, with no graphic controls, and needs no CloudMonet account. Get it from Scorer link on the card or at the top of the Match Centre (copy it, or let them scan the QR code).
Running the stream on your own? In the Match Centre's Scorer link, choose Score and run graphics. The link then gets a Graphics tab, where you can take the match's graphics on and off air and change which one is in front, all from the same phone. Switch back to Score only at any time. The phone picks up the change straight away.
Treat the scoring-only link like a password. If it's shared with the wrong person, open Scorer link in the Match Centre and click Make a new link (or New link on the match card in the editor's Data tab). The old link stops working straight away. The Control App keeps working.
Scoring a match
- Before the first ball, tap Choose to pick the two opening batters and the opening bowler.
- Every ball: tap the runs, or • for a dot ball.
- Extras: Wd (with any runs taken), Nb (runs off the bat or byes; the next ball is a free hit), Bye, LB.
- Wicket: choose how the batter was out. Add the fielder for a catch or stumping. For a run out, say who was out and how many runs were completed. Only dismissals that are possible off that delivery can be chosen.
- Strike changes automatically on odd runs and at the end of each over. After a wicket or at the end of an over, the keypad asks for the new batter or the next bowler. The bowler of the last over can't be picked again straight away.
- Undo last ball removes the last entry after you confirm.
- Scorecard graphics in ••• chooses which innings your batting and bowling card graphics show. By default they follow the match: innings 1 until the chase starts, then innings 2. Pick an innings to bring back, for example, the first-innings card during the chase. If a card is on air, it plays out, changes, and plays back in, so viewers never see the numbers swap.
- ••• has penalty runs, swap strike, change batter or bowler, the scorecard, and two ways to stop early:
- End innings 1 starts the chase now, for example after rain, bad light or retirements.
- End match ends the match where it stands. Choose Result (innings 2 only) to enter the winner and the margin the officials announce, such as "by 12 runs (DLS)". Choose No result when play started but couldn't finish, or Abandoned when there was no play or too little to count. In a tournament, both no result and abandoned give each side the no-result points.
- The score so far is kept. Reopen match, in place of Undo last ball, takes the result away so scoring can carry on.
Innings 2 starts on its own once the overs run out or 10 wickets fall, and the scorebug switches to the chase ("Need 45 off 36 balls").
If the connection drops, a banner says so. Keep the page open and the last tap goes through when the signal returns.
In the Control App, the scorebug's individual fields (score, batters, overs…) aren't listed for editing the way other graphics' fields are. They're recalculated from every ball, so the Live scoring card replaces them. To correct something, undo the ball or use Details.
Changing match details
Click Details at the top of the Match Centre (or on the match card in the editor's Data tab). Before the first ball, everything can change. Once play starts, you can still fix names, short codes, colours and the venue, and enter a revised target or revised overs for a rain-reduced chase. Overs, the toss and the Playing XIs are locked, because changing them would rewrite the scorecard.
Deleting a match
Click the bin at the top of the Match Centre and confirm. (The match card in the editor's Data tab has Remove instead: it takes just that graphic out of the match.) The scorecard and ball-by-ball record are removed. The match's graphics are kept but stop getting live data. This can't be undone.
