Configuring GDL Settings

GDL settings control metadata that gets written into the exported package's manifest. These values tell the playout system how to identify, layer, and time the graphic. Open the GDL Settings panel in the editor toolbar before exporting.

Settings

End Animation DurationHow long the out-animation should play, in millisecondse.g. 500

All GDL settings fields are optional. If your playout workflow doesn't require them, leave them blank — the export will still work. The Template Layer and Group ID are the fields most playout systems use for routing and identification.

Template Layer

This number maps your graphic to a specific layer in the playout system's graphics engine. Lower-thirds are commonly assigned to a different layer from score bugs or fullscreen graphics, so the playout system knows how to composite them.

Check with your playout system operator or technical team to confirm which layer numbers are allocated to which graphic types.

Group ID

A string identifier used to group related graphics. For example, you might export three different lower-third variants (name super, title card, double-decker) all with the Group ID lower-thirds. The playout system can then manage them as a family.

Animation durations

These tell the playout system how long the graphic's in and out animations are, so it can time triggering correctly. These values should match the duration of your in/out keyframe animations in CloudMonet.

The overall design duration (set in the timeline) is included in the export automatically — you don't need to set it here.
