Design rationale

Architecture over decoration

The 72px band sits flush at the bottom of frame — the lower limit for a ticker with enough breathing room at 35px type while keeping the shot open above. Near-black (#0d0d0d) reads softer on SDR panels without compromising broadcast safety.

The red line signals authority

A 4px accent at the top edge — thin enough to feel precise, saturated enough (#e31c1c) to read at low monitor brightness. Fades in at 300ms, after the band has settled. It signals urgency without stealing the shot.

Staggered label entry

BREAKING enters at 300ms. NEWS follows at 420ms. The 120ms stagger mirrors how the eye reads a two-line stack — structure first, detail second. Yellow (#fbbf24) is the only warm accent on an otherwise cold palette.

Five values. The red is consistent across stripe, block, and separators — one system, not three.

One headline per line in the widget panel. The ► separator (#e31c1c, 25px bold, 48px spacing) is injected automatically — no manual characters needed.
Live data binding
Bind tickerRawText to a Google Sheet column or webhook endpoint. Updates propagate live without reloading the graphic. RSS mode also available via rssFeedUrl.
Ticker speed
Default 90px/sec, continuous scroll, looping. Adjustable in 10px/sec increments via the widget panel. Dwell time 3000ms applies in non-continuous mode.
Clock timezone & format
Defaults to America/New_York, format %I:%M %p. Switch to any IANA timezone in the clock widget settings. Toggle 24-hour with %H:%M.

BREAKING and NEWS are editable textboxes. Change to DEVELOPING, LIVE, or any editorial label your workflow requires.
