How to Add a Scoreboard Overlay to Ecamm Live with CloudMonet

Taking a professional graphic on air is as simple as adding a CloudMonet output URL as a widget overlay in Ecamm Live. No design work needed. Here is the full process, from template to scene.

Are you running a live sports broadcast on Ecamm Live and want a professional scoreboard on screen? With CloudMonet's ready-made templates, you can set this up in under 5 minutes. Just add a link to Ecamm Live as a widget overlay. Here is the full process.

How does it work?

Here are the steps:

  1. Choose a template, or build your own scoreboard
  2. Open the Control Panel for that template
  3. Customize it — team names, colors, logos, clock
  4. Copy the link you need for Ecamm Live
  5. Add the output link as a widget overlay
  6. Run your show
01

Choose a template, or build your own scoreboard

CloudMonet has a template gallery of ready-made broadcast graphics to choose from. This includes scoreboard designs for Soccer, Football, and other sports. New templates are added regularly.

Note: If none of the templates match your sport, you can start from a blank canvas and build your own.

Select a template, and go to its control panel.

Open the Control Panel

Clicking a template opens the design editor. From there, click the Control Panel button in the top-right corner to open the Control Panel for your project.

The Control Panel shows a live preview of the graphic next to its controls. It also has a Take On Air / Take Off Air button — the graphic won't appear in your output until you click Take On Air, even after it's set up in Ecamm Live.

Spend a few minutes in the control app before your broadcast. Try adding a point to the score, running the clock, switching possession, and showing the alert banner. This helps you get comfortable with the controls before the game starts.

Customize the template (Optionally)

In the Control Panel, fill in the details for your game. This could include:
  • Team names or abbreviations, and logos
  • Team colors (these are usually also used as the background color on the graphic)
  • Starting clock time and number of periods

The specific fields to configure depends on the graphic.

Copy the Output link into Ecamm Live

Click the Output button at the top right of the Control Panel. Every published template gives you two links:
  1. Output URL — this is the graphic itself, shown on a page with a transparent background. This is the link you add to Ecamm Live as a widget overlay.
  2. Control Panel Dock URL — this is only the controls from the control app, without the graphic preview. Keep this link open on your own laptop, tablet, or phone. Your viewers should never see this page.

Add the output link to Ecamm Live as a widget overlay

In Ecamm Live:
  • Open the Overlays window, and click New Widget
  • In the dialog that appears, paste the Output URL into Widget URL, and give it a Display Name (something like “Soccer Scoreboard”)
  • Click Add Widget Overlay — the scoreboard appears on your scene with a transparent background already. CloudMonet's output pages are built this way, so there's nothing extra to configure for transparency
  • Reposition or resize the graphic directly on the scene using your mouse

That covers what your viewers see. For the controls, keep the Control Panel Dock URL open in a normal browser tab on a second device. Your audience never needs to see that page.

Run your show

Once the widget is showing on your scene, and the control app is open wherever your scorekeeper is sitting, you're ready to go. A few things worth checking before you go live:
  • Click Take On Air in the CloudMonet Control Panel — the graphic stays hidden until you do, even though the widget is already added and enabled in Ecamm Live
  • The widget you just added is listed under Show in Current Scene in the Overlays window — if you use multiple scenes, add it again for any other scene it should appear in, or move it under Show in All Scenes
  • If the graphic doesn't appear, or looks stuck, toggle the eye icon next to the widget off and on
  • Check that its size on the scene still matches the template's canvas, so the scoreboard text doesn't look stretched or blurry

The Output URL does not change when you edit the design later. So once it's set up in Ecamm Live, you won't need to touch that widget again, even for future games.

Why use CloudMonet for this

  • · Easy to set up. Templates already have animation and logic built in. You only need to fill in fields, not build layouts from scratch.
  • · Full editor when you need it. If you want to go beyond the basic controls, you can open the full design editor and change anything in your project.
  • · No software to install. All you need is a device with internet access and a browser. You can control the graphic from anywhere, on a different device than the Mac running Ecamm Live.
  • · Always up to date. New features and templates are added regularly, at no extra cost. See what's new.

Once your first scoreboard is on air, the same steps — template, control app, output link, Ecamm Live widget overlay — work for every other graphic in CloudMonet's template gallery, including lower thirds, tickers, and lineup reveals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to install anything to use CloudMonet?

No. CloudMonet works fully in your browser, so there's nothing to install. You only need Ecamm Live (or your broadcast software of choice) to display the output.

Does this work with software other than Ecamm Live?

Yes. The output link is a normal web page. It works as a widget overlay in Ecamm Live, a Browser Source in OBS or Streamlabs, a Web Browser input in vMix, or in any other tool that supports browser-based sources.

Why is my scoreboard showing a white background instead of being transparent?

This is uncommon, since CloudMonet's output pages have a transparent background by default and Ecamm Live's widget overlays are designed to be transparent too. If it happens, try removing the widget and adding it again with the same Output URL.

Can I use CloudMonet for free?

Yes. CloudMonet has a free plan with no credit card required, so you can try the full scoreboard setup before upgrading.

Can more than one person control the scoreboard?

Yes. CloudMonet works in the cloud and supports multiple users, so a second person can open the control app on their own device, separate from the Mac running Ecamm Live.

What happens if I change the design after publishing?

Nothing changes on your end. The Output URL stays the same. Any changes you make to the design update automatically, without needing to touch Ecamm Live again.
